It's Time for War! Axis & Allies Europe
We decided to blow the dust off of our Axis & Allies Europe
and set it up for several weekends of play. This is Selah's
first game. She's controlling the Germans. The Germans have a lot of
options, which can make playing them quite challenging.
![]() Turn 4 and Germany is up. The Germans have invested heavily in the Luftwaffe! I'm controlling the Allies. The United States role is fairly straight forward in the early game, eliminate the German sub fleet in the Atlantic (just 3 to go). The British have a few options, but their income takes a heavy blow early, so they need to protect the island first and hit Germany where they can. The Russians must buy time, with cheap troops. They longer they can prevent the Germans from advancing into their territory, the greater the chance at an Allied victory.
Axis & Allies (Revised)
The revised edition of A&A came out in 2004. Avalon Hill took the
original game and added the components fans have been adding to their
home brew version of the game for years: artillery, destroyers, 2-hit
battleships, and more territories in Europe.
![]() Turn 2 and the British are up. The British Navy has been solidified, so the Germans will be facing Americans and British ground troops very soon. Spencer and I are going at it in this match. It's also his first time playing. He controls the Allies and the British await his orders. There's a lot more going on in this version off A&A than in the A&A Europe version. The Russians appear to be quite thin on their eastern front. The Japanese hope to exploit this as quickly as possible. An interesting change in the original deployment has the Russians starting with an IC in Caucasus, right on the front lines. This may be more beneficial to the Germans than to the Russians eventually. ![]() Close up of the European Front. I think Spencer needs to invest in some more cheap troops to shore up the Russian position. We'll see what he has in mind. |
